Entertaiment is a diverse collection of activities that can be enjoyed on any scale, from an individual choosing a personal entertainment from the vast range of pre-recorded products available; to a banquet adapted for two; to performances suited for thousands. While the word is often associated with amusement, it can also have a serious purpose as is the case with many ceremonies, religious festivals and even satire. Moreover, entertainment often inspires other forms of entertainment–for instance, the story of Scheherazade was retold as an orchestral work by Rimsky-Korsakov and Ravel, made into a film by Pasolini and is now the basis for an innovative video game.
